I'm the founder of Mixto Communications. Before I started my own company, I spent more than two decades working in government, higher education, and nonprofits. I was a Type A workaholic and I enjoyed every minute of it.
When my daughter was born almost four years ago, I experienced a seismic shift in my priorities. Being home for dinner and spending weekends together as a family became incredibly important. I loved my career, but I realized that I couldn't have the life I wanted while working for someone else. As my maternity leave ended in November 2014, I launched Mixto Communications. Returning to my job as Digital Strategy Director for AARP California while juggling a side hustle, an infant, marriage, and four pets was hard, but I've never regretted it.
Four months later, I took a buyout package from my employer and officially became my own full-time boss. Since then, I've worked with nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses of all sizes across the country to create marketing and communications strategies that connect with clients and communities. One of my longtime passions is helping people find the work they were meant to do, so I also offer private coaching for select clients exploring career change or advancement.
